If there is one thing we come across a lot at The Credit Guru, its clients who are in need of proper legal representation in connection with their credit and debt. We could write a book based on the things we have seen and heard over the years about how the credit bureaus and collection agencies operate sometimes. From threatening to take people to Court if they don’t pay, to bullying and lying about debts that aren’t even valid, there is a laundry list of illegal tactics collection agencies will use to get what they want. Although we have always made a point to provide our clientele with referrals to legitimate legal resources and attorneys who can assist them, we understand at the same time that a majority of the people who really need it the most cannot afford an attorney. As a result, the illegal practices continue, and consumers are left under-represented. This is a reality we are changing.
As you may have already seen, we have a new Paralegal Services page on our website outlining a menu of services provided by Paralegal, Anne Hertel. For those of you who have known us for a while, you will remember Anne from when she worked at The Credit Guru as a Credit Analyst/Operations Manager from 2007-2009. Her same tenacity and passion for consumers has not changed since she left. If anything, it has been renewed with a passion for making legal services and consumer education more affordable and available to those who need it.
Although there are free resources for consumers out there more than ever relating to credit and debt, and talented attorneys litigating more regularly against debt collection and credit reporting firms for their illegal practices, there is still a huge demographic of people who need that “in-between” level of care that doesn’t cost thousands of dollars in attorney fees but still offers a similar level of legal expertise and representation. This is what our Paralegal Services provide. It is important to note that this does not include legal advice, however. We will continue to keep a close network of attorneys on hand in the event anything falls outside our legal abilities in this capacity.
